HVLP Gun

I have a $300.00 Binks siphon feed and a harbor freight HVLP. I honestly like the HVLP gun. It produces less overspray which means more paint gets on the surface. I did have to spend a little time getting used to the lower pressures required to dial it in, but once you get the settings right, it works fine.

I will be spraying a FJ45 this weekend- weather permitting and will be using the HVLP gun. I also bought a second one as a back up cause they are so cheap.

I pulled the trigger and bought a new HVPL gun from HF model# 47016 w/ 20 oz. cup. I also bought a air filter regulator item # 95439 from the same place. All I need to do is plumb some black pipe from my compressor to my regulator so that I'll have easy access to regulate the air pressure. Hope this works and I hope I bought the right stuff. More to come upon completion of the air line plumbing.

Same gun i just used, worked fine for me.

You're painting too dry , but then it's a Jeep anyway....lots of sanding to do, unless you're after a flat finish!

What size of black pipe should I use to plumb my compressor system? I'll be running approx. 23 feet of black pipe before I connect my air tools and HVPL gun.

I found and have used a newer HVLP gun from Graco. Its called a VX 2000. Sells for about $90.00 and it KICKS ASS!.

Its about as good as a $500.00 piece but alot less $$. It has a nice trigger pull, and lays down like crazy. You have to move really fast but that's what HV is all about.

I used an astro pneumatics gun, and its a clone of a sata. in fact the pressure cup kits for the sata fit the astro HVLP.

Practice will make a cheap gun look good. Not understanding how to paint will make even the best $700 gun lay down a s***ty paint job. Its all about learning the sweep speed, spray pattern, and overlap.
