I just thought I'd post a link to this thread. I've been thinking of this for a long time now, what with building up my 60 and building bumpers and stuff. I do long trips, and try to minimize as best I can.
Beadlocks are kind of a way of saving on carrying as spare wheel, and also being able to do a repair in the field or a tire swap should it be required. Then the obvious benefits of really letting the air out on the trails when needed.
I think these are well made, and I've been told will balance as well. So here is the link,

The plan is for delivery by the fall, so gives people a bit of time to plan and save up. BTW, I'll have a set of Pro Comp 17x9 5 wheels for sale this fall,

It has been my experience that the tire lube used by the tire dealer is a big contributing factor in tires slipping on the rim when aired down, especially in wet conditions.

correct me if I am wrong but I thought beadlocks aren't DOT approved and you cant run them on the road legally

how much for the Pro comp rims... Back spacing?

I got a surprise yesterday. I had a friend who is a journeyman heavy duty mechanic, licensed inspection mechanic through his business,
contact CVSE and query beadlocks as I couldn't find them anywhere in the inspection manual. I also looked online as well as went through
my copy of the book page by page.
It would seem that beadlock wheels are not necessarily not legal. The Hutchinson wheels are DOT, so completely legal. If a person had a set of
beadlocks that were not welded but properly machined, as in professionally manufactured, not made in your backyard and in good condition, you
could probably get away with running them. Seems like a tiny loophole. So any one of the many other single beadlock wheels with good quality
outer rings there is nothing saying they are not specifically illegal, but for the DOT stamp. I don't think I'd want to get into a pissing match on the
side of the hwy with a CVSE dude, so that is the reason I am making sure my wheels are DOT.
The pro comps are 17x9 with 4" BS. I'll have to work out price later after I have the other wheels in hand.
