Has anyone run HC to WCF lately? I went last fall and when I made the right turn there at the rattlesnake gap intersection (just before Round Mountain), about a mile or so up the road, there was a new gate, blocking me from continuing on to WCF.

Update: Just spoke w/ Forrest Service. Apparently they shut that gate every winter in December and open it back up in March. Looks like we're good.

The closest gas station on I-40 heading west from Asheville is exit 21. There is a big Pilot gas station at exit 24.

Is the camp site Friday night easy to find? I have to work but could catch up that evening. No vacation time left to take. Aaron took it all.

Depends on when you start your weeks.
Also with all the rain we've gotten this year anyone have a report on the condition of Hurricane Creek itself? There's parts that could be really muddy and a bit of a water crossing somewhere if memory serves from last year.
