Truck is looking great man, love all the new armor, congrats!

Thanks Jose! I'm hoping you'll click some pics of it one day soon for me...

Wow, been a month almost since the last update! Well, hope all had a merry Christmas and happy new year!
I went out and used Hunter a little bit finally!! Had the chance to go explore some forest service roads up out of Nevada city, went out to prairie city and Hollister ohv areas and had some fun! Looking forward to getting back out to both!
Current project is Landtank caster correction plates. While in there I am replacing all of the oem rubber with new oem rubber (thanks cruiserdan!) Going to do the rear sway bar rubber as well, but not the rear control arm bushings yet, as I haven't decided on adjustable/shorter/longer/HD etc... I'm mid project (arms at machine shop getting bushings pressed in) but I'll post up pics as I start to complete this all.

Landtank plates in.
See some of you at Rubicon brewery tonight!

Wow. Time flies!!
So, should have mentioned in my last post that all new oem front control arm bushings went in with the landtank caster plates.
Slee 4" springs and used ome steering stabilizer went in last weekend.

Yesterday:
Cleaned the sunroof drains.
New dizzy o-ring.
Rebuilt power steering pump.
New low pressure reservoir to pump hose.

cross post from my moab trip thread:

Alright fellas! After reading @@concretejungle 's Utah Trip Report, I hope to make the west coast proud with this. I am up late before a big day tomorrow and will type this up better later, but wanted to at least lay something down for y'all to start looking at. I'm no wordsmith, but I can change a diaper like nobody's business!! anyhow, so this will be more of a photojournal thanks to my buddies BA camera...
Drove all night monday from Sacramento
Couldnt sit still once we got here Tuesday afternoon, so I hit up Moab Bar Rim trail for a warm up.

Slept like a log, did family stuff all morning Weds and hit Cliffhanger around noon-1-ish... Drive around the corner in town and see this!!
great trail!! Had so much fun, so gorgeous here!! so different from west coast scenery and wheeling! Heres the entrance, middle and vista off-shoot over poison-spider-mesa, and some shots on the way back out...

slight misplacement of a tire had me thinking twice...

me and some progeny

Final steps back out the way we came in.

Enjoy, there are about 700 more pics to come later!! (need some sleep before hitting the trifecta tomorrow....)
CHEERS!!!

Dude that looks like an amazing trip. What was your gas cost? That's my main reason for not going out there:/ how'd your 80 do out there? Loom like she did great! Notice the jeeps hood popped in the last photo!!!

I think the last time I did a rough estimate based off miles and 4$ per gallon it was like 500-600. It was 870 miles to Moab Utah . I get about 14mpg at best on long trips, I'll go off 20 gallons( since I never run it to the nitty gritty) so 280 miles per tank 280/870=3.10 tanks one way. 20 gallons x 3.1 tanks at 4$ per gallon =$248
Then x2 for the trip back = $496 plus however many miles you put in on the trails and around town.

And now gas is like 4.20-4.29 :zilla:

Still not home since I went straight to rubithon from Moab, so I will run actual costs when I can, but I budgeted about $800 for fuel/oil misc. 14mpg is higher than I get, and I have 6 peeps in my fam (4 half peeps) and lots of clothes and stuff.. Pretty heavy.. I bet $800 will be/is pretty close.

Damn bro from Moab to rubithon? That's awesome. I'm jealous. How's the wheelin been. I wanna see some rubicon pics

yeah bro, phenomenal road trip! The wagon run was awesome! Pics to come soon (i hope to get them from a trail buddy soon..)
Cheers!

Cross post from fridge center console thread:
So, Here is my install:
(Go easy on me, I think this may be my very first "original" write up...)

Started by pulling the original center console. pardon the filthy vehicle.
This leaves an ideal location for the waeco, however, the oem console has a built in step down, a difference of about 3" between the front mounting point (higher) and the rear (3" lower).

Here are some mock-ups and me estimating distances.

The lean is no bueno... MO better!

From the youtube link showing the install of this fridge in a 60 series, I concluded a platform would be the best route to go, and then strap the fridge to that.

Here are my supplies (mostly).

I had some board laying around from some garage re-arranging and opted to use it (lay off, I know its not the ideal material: 3/4" particle board, but once this is dialed in and kinks worked out it will be easy to swap out to a better platform material).

I also opted for an expedient way to support the platform: I used some pipe (1/2" x 3") as sleeves for some longer bolts (100mm). of course a really cool bracket or some cnc'd, 3d-printed, something or other thing-a-ma-jig would be better.. i know i know :flipoff2:
I am going to use the small strap brackets to lash the cooler down, ala youtube style. Nice thing about this route is that the fridge can be removed and the platform used for some other purpose. (in theory ;) )

So, on to the platform.

I cut the board to 9" x 20" based on the dimensions of the cooler. My board was already 20" on one side, so was an easy decision. turns out to be little short (should be about 21-22" instead, but for now I will just put the rear strap bracket on the under side of the platform.

I was pretty darn close with my initial estimates for the hole locations (small x's). I measured fairly precisely and came up with 11 11/16 length and the rear two mounting holes are 3 5/16 apart from each other. They are oriented in an isosceles triangle.

I counter sunk the holes with a 3/4 inch hole saw bit, so a socket would fit around the bolt head. I tightened the bolts down further on final install.

Busted out the trusty flapper disc to route the edges of the wood.

Test fit once the board was done. Fits great. is a little tight to the passenger seat, so when I strap it down the cooler may end up a little shifted/offline from the platform itself. The whole platform or maybe just the rear should be shifted to the driver side a wee-bit. However, the adjustment mechanism on the e-brake is wicked close already, so not sure there is much to do.. maybe notch the platform a wee bit.. idk...

Here is the material I used to cover the platform. This pic shows the top of it, kind of a canvas type texture, and the bottom is a vinyl possibly.. (the next couple pics will show I know nothing about material and how to upholster! but my labor is free!!)
