Was around $150'ish + shipping. About the same as taking it to a shop.

I'm still waiting for mine, but should be here next Monday. Just need to find an indicator gauge now.

Foreal - any chance you know how long adapter needs to be? Or, a good place to get the proper length gauge?

Edit: Looks like no adapter is required with the SST.

Yes 148 plus taxes and shipping.
Gotta do 3 trucks, plus noone around here can do it... I don't live anywhere close to Radd or ateb.

Try eBay? I have good luck with things, I just ordered myself a nice mitutoyo micrometer and my dad has a dial gauge that will hopefully do.

I have the same nice Mitutoyo dial indicator .. just need to found an extension ..
 
Ah damn - I was told he would be getting the order this Friday.

Oh well - it's going to take some time finding a metric dial gauge around here. They're all standard, or digital and $500. Ebay it is....
 
Where dis you get your source for the SST?

I need those Tools and it ssems that i cannot source them in Canada or USA

Some of the earlier links to ebay, that's what I got and it worked great for me. I wouldn't bother with the Toyota one. As far as the valve adjustment tool goes thats a question for someone else.
 
I bought the mito that shred wagon recommended. It has a smaller shank to fit the tool. The picture I included with the silver one, the shank is too big. I can see about getting the part number if I still have it.
 
Before spending time and money buying tools to time your VE IP think about spending more time and money....

As injectors wear the cracking pressure lowers allowing earlier injection, same as earlier timing, and more fuel delivery often combined with less atomized spray. IPs that have not been tampered with are most likely within spec but are the injectors?

Also consider timing for these IPs is set for emissions, not power and economy.
 
Well, I like to tinker as much as the rest of you. I have advanced timing on my engines after checking the static timing. None were out of spec before advancing. I have rebuilt injectors then increased injector cracking pressures then advanced the timing to compensate....and more. Some say you can advance the IP by ear, just advancing until increased diesel knock then backing off.....I suspect this is adequate but I want to know what I have set the timing at. Of course this is static timing and wear on the IP is a factor. Timing the injection whilst the engine is running, need pulse timing equipment, is a more accurate determination of the injection pulse. Of course all this tinkering can leave with with burned pistons or worse so the responsibility is on yous.

What I would recommend, if it is running well leave IP alone and determine if your injectors need rebuilding. Then if you are brave, read up on advancing these old indirect injection engines. The final question you should always ask "Am I willing to cause an expensive rebuild?".

My next experiment is going to be changing out the cam disc (static timing measurements are measuring the rise on the cam disc) for more favorable injection pulse.
