Six thumps per rev.

actually

6 cylinders divided by 2 revolutions to make a full cycle on one cylinder, = 3 thumps (compression hits) per revolution.

Dribbly injectors that drain into the cylinder after shut down can cause slow starting, too, as the mixture can be too rich to light for a couple of crank revolutions. A bad enough leak can cause hydrolocking on some cars. My brother is a Jeep/Dodge mechanic ( This is actually smart fellas, think about the work load), He says he sees this a lot and that the BG injector cleaning kit that you attach to the fuel rail helps a lot. For mine, I'm pulling the injectors to be bench cleaned and tested. Just an idea... I would start with a tune-up, clean the fuel system, and then not worry about it. It is what it is, and there it is.

I stand corrected.

I forgot about the exhaust stroke:doh:
