I've got a tachometer that I'd like to mount in the FJ55. It looks like it will work with the bellhousing mounted sensor which I happen to have on the FJ55 as a carry over from the BJ60 the parts came out of. In order for the tach to be correctly calibrated I need to know the number of teeth on the flywheel/ring gear. Anyone know or have a 3B with the bellhousing off and able to count them for me?

Unnecessary message .... but... If I have read your thread earlier, I would have counted for you... but since everything was mount...I can't tell you!

Very sorry!

I won't pretend that this is going to be the most helpful thing in the world, but...

YOu could count the teeth in the picture from one bolt/rivet/feature on the pressure plate, to the matching bolt/rivet/feature on the opposite side and multiple by 3 to get pretty close to the # of flywheel teeth... best I can do, sorry. :meh:

I have the same problem!! Three flywheels and they are all installed in trucks.

Eventually someone will have a flywheel out and they'll be able to count teeth. The tach needs an exact count to get an accurate reading of RPM.

According to toyoDIY an 83' BJ60, which is what I have, might have 110 teeth, the parts diagrams describes the ring gear as "GEAR, FLYWHEEL RING" then below it says "3B..BJ60; N=110". I'd bet that means that the number of teeth is 110.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the great idea...I'll check out ToyoDIY for my 12H-T as I have the same issue as Charles.

12HT looks like 108 teeth DAVID:

Thanks .. interesting .. I was under the impresion it will have more teeth .. now come to my mind if the entire flywheel share the same overal diameter ..

And ( thought no ) the Tach sensor are the same ..

Thanks guys! I tried looking it up on ToyoDIY and it didn't have that detail for me for the 12H-T...so I did need that number from Lostmarbles. Thanks for thinking of me, Tapage.

welcome dude .. we are a comunity . .!

In case it's useful to any lurkers - Here's a printout of all the vehicles that got the 108 teeth 13453-47010 ring-gear (according to my EPC):
