How many amps to start a 60?

I'm going to be installing a 500a fuse to my Warn M12k. In the case of a front end crunch that shorts the power cable to the winch I want to be protected.

well, before I put her down for the SBC, I did have mine running with a solar 500 amp shunt and AMP gauge on the negative cable, in order to see what was running.

Starting the 2F, the gauge would surge to around 190 amps, then taper down to 110 amps and by then the engine would start. No winch on mine, so I don't know that number

if you had to know

The starter stuck in the on position on my 80 (while my wife was driving it). It pulled enough amps through the wire that the wire melted, and started a fire in the engine compartment. Fortunately, this took enough time that she had called the fire department who got there just as the smoking/melting wire started a fire...which they promptly put out. Point being - a fused starter wire would prevent this kind of problem.
