I'm in the 10-20 year category, I think. I have a 6 year old and a 5 year old and I'm thinking it will be their first car.

It's big, safe and so bad on gas they won't be able to afford to go far.

If I ever get one (hope springs eternal)...i'd like to hold onto it for at least 10 years...however the minister of finance and I don't see eye to eye in regards of vehicle retention and keeping..hoping thatll change once she gets in an LC or LX570..her only exposure is my dad's rusty and crusty 84 fj60...

My wife drives our LX570 - easily the nicest vehicle either of us have ever owned. It is our first Toyota product and we both love it. It is great for her to take the kids around town. It will be a soft-roader on forest roads and whatnot as we're not stoked about breaking stuff and paying for it.

I say 10-20 years now. My son will be driving in 7 more years so unless the 300 blows me away, I'm not going anywhere as of now. I've had it for 4 years already so I would hit that mark if I kept it for him. If it weren't for the tv screens in the 2016 I would of gotten one but I really dislike them enough to pass on it.....as of now who knows what will happen if I ever test drive one.

I'll proly keep mine for another 10+ years and then buy a new one, 300 series or what ever they have available in the Cruiser fam at that time!

We bought ours used (2008 with 70k miles) two years ago and plan to keep it as long as the cost of ownership is in the lower half of the vehicle's value. Once I start spending about 1/2 the value of the vehicle on maint/repairs/insurance/etc. I usually let them go (goodbye every Land Rover ever). Hoping this one will make it 10yrs for us which will put it in the 15 yr old range. I can't ever see buying a new one because as much as I like all my Landcrusiers I feel the new car pricing is not justified. I will probably find a 2-3 yr old next generation LC when this one is gone.

We are nearly twins in LC purchasing tendencies.
Too expensive new, but there are near-perfect used Cruisers that really make sense.

I bought my 2008 18 months ago with only 48K miles on it.
It's now around at 77k, and I'expect I'll keep it for another 10. We'll see...but I like your basic formula.

Buying a 3-5 year old Cruiser is about like paying for a new 4Runner. AFAIC, a low-miles used Cruiser vs. a new 4Runner is an easy choice.

My 2012 200LC is getting traded in the day the 300LC comes out.

My 2016 LX570 will get traded in when a new, agreeable design change happens.

I wonder what it's like to be able to do that. :)

Which of those two do you drive more?

What makes you wanna keep both? Is the LC built? Stock?

It will remain until it doesn't.
My crystal ball broke years ago.
I really enjoy this vehicle and don't foresee any changes anytime soon.

That's interesting as I feel the opposite. I would rather have a LC with BP-51 than a LX. I was going to put up a post trying to see if people like the LX suspension as it feels alot of road imperfections in any setting for me. I love the interior and finish of the LX better but the suspension is what ruins it for me.

I've had mine since new for 4 yrs, 185k kms and keeping it till the chassis drops out from under it. Realistically, when I'm able to I'll upgrade to an fj43

Each car has its own purpose.

LX suspension is great for the road. Great to go to meetings with. The paint on the LX and my LS is 50X better than any Toyota paint ever. LX is great for my client meetings, great for valet only places. To me, in situations where it is dictated I drive a Range Rover, the LX does the job.

LC200 is great off road rig. Its a great rig for anytime anywhere in the world. Its a rig I can abuse, take it skiing, put it away wet, and it never lets me down.

I grew up on Nissan Patrols(original) and FJ40 all my life. So LC is in my blood, whether it is a dressed up LX or a American LC (which is quite dressed up still)...

Ryan: I agree the LX is prettier and nicer, but on test drives I could not get used to the suspension. I tried comfort mode and sport mode and both seemed off to me (the middle felt worst). I ended up deciding to go with the LC and hoping the BP-51 suspension is going to suit my needs (haven't ordered it yet). I loved the leather stitching on the LX and the wood veneers.

Interesting.

I have had a LX450, LX470, LX570 (2013), and now a 2016 LX. I am sorry to hear of your disappointment, but I am sure your LC order will suit your needs fantastically :)

The LX450 wasn't much diff than the LC. 470 was a bit more different. LX570 is the first time, it has been extensively differentiated from the LC (talking about a vehicle for daily city driving only).

Mine is on sport mod always. Serene, quiet, and plush. It is the closest to my LS600hL any 4wd vehicle has a right to be...

I am not saying LC or LX, one is better than another. Just different tools for different jobs. My 2012 LC has its place in life as well. It is suited great for our trips to Montana and Idaho, while my LX is at home in Malibu.

That's about $400k worth of vehicles, as the LS600hl starts around $120k.
If you run out of garage space, I've got a space open in mine. ;)

I want your job.

I agree with you. If i had money to blow I imagine I would do the same but I think the LX would be forgotten once I upgraded LC suspension. Sort of what happened with me and my mercedes and bmws with my Old Man EMU lx470.

Who knows I may buy the LX in a few years when they are down to $15-20k for an on road car only.

If I have an on-road-only car? -It will be low, quick and corner-hugging. ;)

Choices are a good thing for the consumer. I don't modify my 4x4 anymore. I drive them stock. I leave all my modifications for my real passion, sports cars and bikes.

I am sure your LC will be fantastic, with the upgraded suspension. My favorite truck on here is @kreiten . My bro @Atwalz is doing an amazing build as well...

Good luck sir.

I get uneasy being low in traffic. I feel like a sitting target.

Thanks for the advice Ryan. Will check them out. To be honest I have been following Markuson the most, suspension, sliders, wheels and possibly tires.
