my piggie was running good until last week, it just doesnt wana start.

i can start it if i have a steady stream of starting flud spray into the carb but as soon as i stop, it dies.

could it be my fuel pump? how do i test my fuel pump? disconnect the fuel line on my carb and cycle key on/off and see if any fuel squirts out?

First the fuel filter and lines. Then the pump. I have had two old pumps go, but mine didn't go all at once. both of them did a clogging routine for a while where it would die then be ok then die...etc.. Testing with the engine bumping it is like kinda hazardous...gotta be real careful on that. I'm dumb so, if I checked the filter and it was clear and my lines were clear...I'd just replace the pump and forget about trying to set myself on fire or anything. just my two cents.

assuming you still have a mechanical fuel pump, cycling the key wont do jack. you will have to crank it.

Howdy! Ok, I'll be the first to insult you by asking if you are sure there is fuel in the tank. Ok, now that's out of the way. Even if you know the filter is fairly new, I would replace it since they are cheap and easy. Another poster just discovered that was his problem even though the filter was fresh, it was plugged. After that, just pull off the fuel line and stick it into a bottle or jar, and crank the engine over for a few minutes. If you don't get some fuel pretty soon, it's the pump, or your tank is blocked. You can blow air back thru the line to clear the tank, but don't blow thru the pump. If the pump is not very new, then replace it. If the tank is blocked, blowing it out will only be a temporary fix. You will have to drop it and clean it out. John

Y'know, there are a lot of things to make your Pig not start. But if you're thinking fuel, and spraying fuel down the throat makes it start, then OK. It's fuel.
And yes, it usually is the fuel filter.
But. the manual sez the fuel pump should pump fuel at the rate of 2 liters a minute (or so) at 2K RPM...
