Hey guys, going to drive up to Memphis from Houston and have decided to take the route through LA & MS instead of AR, any particular points of interest or routes to avoid? Wouldn't mind some dirt to explore while on the way.

So far, I've got Vicksburg, Natchez, Natchez Trace Pkwy (Should I do Jackson - Tupelo leg?), plantation tour (suggestions?)

Also any food suggestions would be appreciated!!

Thanks guys!

@wngrog can help you out a ton.

Rodney is pretty cool out behind Alcorn University, if you go exploring don't take the dirt road south of of Rodney, there's hunting camps that have made all of the roads out private. You can get out if you head north out of Rodney if you don't want to go back through the Alcorn campus. The Windsor ruins isn't far either and very easy to get to. Rocky Springs is a neat little stop on the Trace, can get out and take a quick hike around if you need to stretch your legs.

I'll think on it a bit more but wngrog will be the best resource.

The Delta up from Vicksburg is way more interesting than the Trace

Cross MS River at St Francisville LA. Work Highway 61 all the way to Memphis.

Tons to see and Eat along the way

If you take @wngrog ’s suggestion and come up through Vicksburg heading north on 61 then you will come through Cleveland. Lots of good restaurants and if you like music we have a huge new Grammy museum.

there is a sonic at nearly every exit on 55. Enjoy!

thanks for the suggestions!
