another painting suggestion, open an account at the local paint store and buy the 23 litre pails of paint! and all the other gear, you will save alot of cash!!
Tell them your starting a painting contracting business or whatever you want to get the contractor deal.

He does have a point. Just a little white lie, if you can live with it:hhmm:

Lotsa good advice.

If you have a lot of glass windows Trimex self masking primer is the hot ticket. No paper masking, just spray it on. It just peels off the glass. Saves a bunch of time. Formerly a 3M product.I can say I have never heard of this .

3M Liquid Mask.com - Trimex Window Mask - Window paint masking products.

I have used it at the Greenbriar Hotel.......I can back the stuff:)

When are you leaving WV to come go to work?. I have a hard time believing this stuff peals off. What about screens, the little 1/4" lip touching the window. You know what I am talking about.

It works.....surprised the hell out of me but if not applied correctly the stuff can peel off drywall(sprayer helps).

I always used a razor blade to get it started.....makes a nice clean rip after that.

But when we bought it.......it was 80 bucks a gallon:whoops:.....not really worth the labor

At 80 bones, I would rather mask the window. You would have way less in that. I think that stuff would work great with literally 100's of windows. But the homeowner. Just more crap to deal with.
When I do barns I blow the windows in with red, slop the windows with white(trim color), and I get the same effect. Just use a window scraper, and badda bing -done.

Woody- this sounds spam-ish

One other thing, you need to check and see what kind of paint they used last time, if it was oil base, you'll have to prime if you use latex, not sure about the acrylic though....otherwise she'll peel. Also make sure the siding is completely dry before painting.

Surly not.

Surly not.
99.99% doubtful oil was used. I believe it was stated that acrylic primer would be in order, along with 100%acrylic topcoat.

Thanks for the replys..... but look at the dates. This thread is a year old. I painted my house last year. :)

I used a wagoner hand sprayer. It took a week. Had 0 wind and I primed with a good sealer after washing the house with TSP and a pressure washer. Went real well. Spraying is the way to go. I hate painting and the sprayer made it quick. I had to tape the windows over and soffets. But it still wash better to not have to lie in flower beds doing the foundations. Just walk and spray.

Cheers!
