Thankfully I don't have to crawl underneath my wife's vehicle very often but still, I'm surprised I never noticed before that someone had placed hose clamps around both catalytic converters.

She has a strange rattle or vibration when in gear and I was trying to investigate. I'm guessing this is a POs attempt to resolve a rattle as well?

Something you guys know that I don't?

There should be a gag emoji

If it is still rattling try tightening the clamp more or shifting it around and retightening. Usually you can find a sweet spot with the clamp position to stop the rattling. Banging on the exhaust pipe with a plastic or rubber hammer helps in determining if you have silenced it.

New cat?

Not the end of the world but yeah looks like PO tried to tighten up the heat shield, seen below...Is the rattle still happening? You can take something like a block of wood and press it into that heat shield to see if your noise goes away / changes to help figure out if that's the current problem or if its coming from elsewhere

Whew if that's a gag emoji you better not crawl under my LC...I have hose clamps holding on every heat shield under there until the shield and the clamp fall off somewhere...heck I thought that's how you fixed rattles on old trucks

There's a shield around the section of exhaust that holds the catalytic converters. Taking off that clamp doesn't get you any closer to removing anything except the shield, I think.
