Hood latch

A while back I posted a question about engine compartment security. That sparked some thought on my part, so yesterday paid my first visit to a local junkyard. My plan is to install a hood latch with the cable running into the bottom of my Tuffy center console.

Yanked the cable, handle and complete latch from a Mazda B2500 and the latch and 3/4 cable from a 82-84 Caddy. I figure between all that I can rig it up. WIll keep posted on progress.

Anyone do something similar?

yep, Toyota did starting in 1983 fj40/bj42 ect, they had a stock interior hood release

Write up perhaps.....

Be sure to document your project with pics and then maybe do a little write up for the Tech Section if it all works out. Just a thought.....

Yeah, I will document and write-up. I have pics and writeups for No-slip locker install, body lift, complete frame/underbody/firefall POR'ing, Body soldering, Air/fuel ratio meter and exhaust manufacture all in the pipeline...

Landpimp, yeah I'm familiar with the later latch releases, but they were still exposed when the top was off, so I'm interested if anyone routed the release somewhere more secure, like up through the Hump into a locking console, or through the firewall into a locking glove box, etc.

Putting it in a lockable console or glovebox is a great idea.

Will do..got distracted on a knuckle rebuild and paint, so everything is apart right now, but hopefully by end of Sept...
