So, my 80 series has some series sunfade of the clearcoat on the hood, all the way to the color.

I wet sanded the hood and shot it with clear. That protected the entire hood from fading now, but the center section that the clear was gone, had some fading.

At the meeting I really liked the look of Jamie's new 4runner. I think it is a vinyl decal type, as I saw several of these at sites. I could go that way, but as I already bought the paint..... I have decided to paint this center section with flat black... specifically John Deere blitz black.

Here are some pics that I found during my research and design that I wanted to put in one place.

Flat Rustoleum rolled on worked for my truck (last pic). It needs a scuff and repaint because it's now more flat gray than flat black. Either way it still does its job well and is wife approved after thinking it was gay. After she got stuck driving into the sun on I-80 on the way to the Hills she then understood the value, plus thinks it looks tough.

I know that words don't express what a single pic can show, but this paint laid down so well!! I was very impressed with it and it looks great! My point is that anyone that is wondering about the quality of the paint can cast any doubts away.

Kelly - I'm sure whichever way you go it will be awesome! Not sure if the PO, Ryan, or the PO2 put that on, but their was a group buy on those and they were well done. Supposedly there is a glare on the 3rd Gen 4Runners that this solves for. :)

Nice! I bet it looks even better in person! JB

Before I painted it, I took off the under hood insulation, and it was still soaked with oil. So, I tossed it, and bought an under hood insulation kit from Amazon. Going to install that first, then reinstall the hood.

The one thing I read about blitz black is that it takes time to harden. I cooked it twice now, heating up the room with kerosene heater, should be about right....

would it hurt ya to smile? Sheesh..
