The beauty of this trail is that there’s a loop to get in and out from the cabin. There’s an up and down rocky mountain road and a super rocky canyon road.

There’s also a nice 3 or 4 rated cliff rocky road, but overall the trail is easy except for the loop and the cliff rocky road

I felt the need to add an extra 0.8” rubber spacer to my rear timbren bumpstops which already had a 1” hockey puck spacer to better protect the compression of my LT Icon 56550 rear shocks.

These shocks have a compressed length of 17” which is kinda long for a gx470.

However, I feel that my HD Nolathane sway bar and long travel dobinson c59-701v coils do a decent job of restricting max compression on the shocks, but still needed to feel safer with extra spacers.

Anyways, I hope this helps someone with a similar setup in terms of the numbers.

Timbren rear bumpstops are 5.25” with a compression of about 2.25” per spec

Added an 0.8” round rubber spacer and a 1” hockey puck spacer

So my bumpstops are a hair taller than 7” and compress about 2.5” max.

Tires are 34” by 11.2” Yokohama Geolandar MTs (285/75R17) on zero offset 17x7.5 Foxtrots

Ramps are 12” tall in each cross corner for a cross travel index of 24”

Front tires clear in ramp by a hair

Rear tires touch by a hair in rear of wheel well

But this is close to my max articulation.

My aluminum engine skid plate cracked and deformed quite badly on the John Bull trail in SoCal.

So, I got the Goliath offroad engine and transmission skid plates in raw steel.

After some acetone cleaning, rustoleum self etching primer and rustoleum ultra matte spray paint…they are ready to be scratched at Holcomb creek.

I am truly impressed where you take that truck. I’ve done some stupid, crazy crap but never a rock garden or hard core trails. I’m always worried about breaking a c.v axle or any ifs component. Personally I would build an old XJ before I do those type of trails regularly in a GX. But more power to ya! Love it! Great video's!

I do carry two new complete 555 tie rods and a reman cv axle just in case.

And if you look at the video, I try not to send it! I’m trying to crawl as much as possible.

But I ageee…I’ve been fortunate to do some rock crawling and make it home safely.

Also, my lift is only like 2.1” in the front with zero offset wheels, so my tie rods and cv axles are not stretched out or angled out too much. I have the narrower 34x11 MTs and maybe all that helps keep things in check.

I was walking around the GX470 today and noticed some new scratches from Holcomb Creek.

Good thing I take pride in these scratches. The real badges of honor! Lol
