HJ47 Troopy Completed

Pics of my cruiser for any of you that are interested.

It's an 1983 HJ47 Troopcarrier. Making it Disc Brake Front, Tacho, SuperGlow Vintage

Bought it as a bit of a rust bucket (but looking at some you have in USA it was pretty good quality). Never done body work before so it was a slow learning curve.

This was the rear passenger door (left side over here). I ended up buying a BRAND NEW one of these from central Australia but haven't fitted it yet so I repaired this one instead

Side panel had some structural rust too. Replaced that 1inch OD pipe with some a 3mm version. Should be nice and strong.

Finished Product looks like this

Notice how someone has already tried to pinch it in the 2 weeks ive had it on the road. Lucky the dumb theif couldn't start it.

Had original troopy seats too. Registered as an 11 seater (allready full of junk)

probably a slap on the wrist. He missed a $120 ticket and $300 calculator in the glove box. But if theives were intelligent they probably wouldn't be stealing things for a living.

I've never seen a Troopy in real life yet, but am strangely drawn to them. Want my wife to get one to drive the kids around (got four) but she absolutely refuses. I've also tried to talk my sister (6 kids) or my brother (three large dogs) into the merits of buying one, but no takers yet.

My plan is to buy it from them after they think it's done.

Also - if you think rust is an issue in the US - it's a heck of a lot worse up here. It's a full time job keeping my fleet rust free (expect my wife's Chev mini van - I buff her vehicle with rock salt).

Long time b/w posts

Should be able to pick one up from a wreckers without too much trouble, but it's a hassle i would of preferred not to have dealt with. Leaving a steering lock on it all the time now.
