Sorry I just now saw your post - tell you the truth it's easier to call me 0509012062 - I have been at Zayed Military city the last couple days so no Internet access.
So I will finally have the rack system installed tomorrow. So far seems ok - a lot better then what you would think for a local made product. I would recommend adding grease nipples on the bearing with the sand we have here.
Make sure you have a stopper installed also so that it doesn't swing out to far and damage the body work. Also goto dragonmart and goto powered and get a 700n gas shock and will make it easy to open.
DN: Are you planning to get an Aux Fuel tank? Or just wish to carry 2 spares? The fabrication work looks neat. Do post some pics in daylight to see the whole setup. You are lucky to have access to such fabricators etc ... I can't seem to find one here in Dhahran.
Thanks
No plans as of yet. Might get an aux tank down the road I mounted at the rear as it's much easier to access the wheel especially of-road, I like the look of it more with the tire at the back and i'll find a use for the extra space under.
I'll get some shots today of the setup and mounting points and post later on. If you come down to the UAE you could have a look at it or It's possible to get it fabricated and sent to you.
I have a factory mounted spare wheel and another spare under chassis. Will remove the chassis one to put 180L ARB tank or if lucky .. find a local fabricated one... 6th tire will go on the roof with cross bars setup.
Do you notice any rear sag with this assembly? Roughly how much weight?
Cheers
No rear left light ,no left indicator
Edit : From the angle of the last picture the light is not visible but the other picture it is visible could it be adjusted so it does not be an excuse not to cover a claim god forbid
With that black cover - it looks really NICE (ما شاء الله) - i will PM you later to get the details for the fabricator.
aMiR904 Road tires are the best choice for sand as they resist digging, Mud tires are by far the worst for sand as they sink into the soft stuff just as the manufacturer intended to. For sand, you need to stay above the crust and powder and try to float as best as you can, a deflated road tire is best for this condition and will give you plenty of sidewall flex - something you need when driving at funny angles, the last thing you want is to let the rigid mud tire sidewall bite at an angle as this could leave you on your roof....god forbid. The bigger question is which road tire best fits the bill......
