Seeing if someone has had real world experience. I found a fairly cheap class III hitch, but the yard doesn't have the key for the lock. (Cover is locked in place/hitch not installed)

I'm wondering if it would be worth my time/cost of materials (plus purchase of hitch) vs buying another used one, if I can find it. I read cut-off wheels, sawzall, hammer and several other suggestions. My shins & feet prefer me not to beat the crap out of it with a sledge, unless a couple of whacks will suffice<--Almost a guarantee of some type of injury or other irreversible damage

Saw-z-all
Have you cut one, how many blades will it take? I know they are hardened. Sawzall blades are around $15-20 for a 5 pack. I'm thinking a torch would be easiest.

I guess I'll have to buy it an experiment, probably not as hard of a task as I am thinking or maybe a lot worse :hhmm:

How much do they want for it? You can have mine for $30 or whatever the yard is charging, whichever is cheaper. Sorry, don't have a spare hitch pin like the yard is offering you though!

Buy it, install it, drive to my house and I'll torch the pin in half for you.
Thanks, I might take you up on that. Unless one pops up on craigslist I will pick it up next week in Denver.

HA!!!!

I thought you already had it and referring to yourself as "The Yard" (Yardsale).

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

But yeah, buy it and take it to Luke's.
You must not of seen my introduction, I refer to myself as, "The Messiah." :p I always seem to confuse people, kinda like calling a receiver, a hitch. Luckily you guys were smart enough to know what I meant.

Sweet, I was talking about a receiver, not a hitch, just to clarify. If you want to sell me a receiver for $30 I will definitely take it, hell i'd even throw in a 12 pack. They want $55 plus the lock BS

Yep - I knew what you meant hitch vs. receiver. I'm almost done with my through-the-bumper receiver, so I'm just tripping over the old one. Could use some paint, but it's in good shape otherwise. I'll be around this weekend if you want to stop by - I'll PM you the address & phone.

BTW, the bolts are 12x1.25, you can get the grade 10.9 ones at the Ace hardware at Platte & Academy. Home Depot and Lowes don't have them. I don't trust HD hardware any more anyway. It takes 6 of them.

You guys are way to kind, I would've waited to see what kind of carnage ensued. I'm positive it was going to be painful.
Thanks for the offer of the torch Black95, it won't be needed and thanks again EricG.

Matt picked up the hitch today - looks like he needs it to keep his rear frame intact! And thanks again for helping me lift that tub off the M-416!

Chicks dig bent bumpers! :smokin: Looks like I should've held off for one day, the 80 I bought today came with a hitch and brake controller. :bang: Oh wellllll

Let me guess. This one has lockers and betters tires. Is this due to the "tug -o-shame"

Sir, I have no clue as to what you are alluding to.

Lockers and better tires, nope, I hear they're overrated :hillbilly:. It does have some sweet woodgrain panels inside though. "If" all goes as planned, I will swap tires from the white to grey and replace with something a little more aggressive, we'll see.
