Howdy! OK, I have read the pros and cons of this many times, and that is not the issue here. I have run without any stabilizer for about 2 yeas, since I put on the 4x4 Labs setup. It works great, and I like it. But, since I do a lot of highway miles to get to the runs, I am thinking it might be more comfortable driving with a stabilizer. I am running an overpowered Saginaw power steering, so it is a little twichy sometimes. At my age, I probably have Parkinson's anyway. What kind of setup have you guys used on the highsteer arrangement? Pics would be great. Thanks, John

Howdy.
I've been running Luke's Hi-steer for, maybe, 6 years. It was an amazing upgrade at first. Well, the whole power steering thing was an amazing improvement from the stock Pig steering. I got the Scout box and a regular old saginaw pump.
It is a little squirrelier now than when new, and I was getting a little wobble at 30mph. So I replaced all the tie-rod ends. Then I got new spring plates and U-bolts.
Then I got new bushings. I've almost finished replacing the bushings and my wobble is almost gone.
Everybody is always saying how a stabilizer is just a band-aid for the real problem, maybe you are getting some wear in your system.
I would probably, actually just what I'm doing, go through your system and find those worn parts.
If you want to see if a stabilizer does help, go for it. Couldn't hurt. Report back here...

Howdy! Almost all of the small stuff that can wear out is new in the last 5000 miles or less. Only exception is the spring bushings. Oh, and the tires. I think they may be the biggest part of the problem. Springs don't look like they have sagged out much, but I suppose if they have, it may affect the caster a bit.

I'm just curious what model stabilizer folks are using and how they mount it. I suppose I would need to weld a tab onto the diff hump for an anchor. John

i've been stabilizer-less for 10 yrs and dont plan to run one, but, it would seem that a tab on the diff and a matching one on the drag link is the way to mount it. as far as brand, just get a decent name,,,, i would prolly put a gabriel or monroe on instead of one of the typical "off road" ones.
