1982 FJ40 V8 conversion getting high fuel fume smell once tank gets hot. There are 3 hoses coming out the top of the tank and going in to a fuel separator (which has a crack in it) and then one hose coming out of the fuel separator. I assume this exit hose ran to a charcoal canister when it had the 2F but now I am looking for a way to add an aftermarket canister or eliminate completely. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You're probably getting the fumes from the cracked separator. Replace it and add a charcoal canister to the output and you should be good to go.
