Would there be any benefit to make the oil receiver pipe (33124-60010) out of a different type of plastic (?more heat/oil resistant), or metal?
Nice work on the rebuild. You could eat off that t-case!All buttoned up. Now just waiting to finish the transmission and put it back in.

Hi @Will Van , just stumbled on your post. Different project but same case. As it was acquired reconditioned, it would be assumed that linkages, sensors/switches are already on the car but, as it goes into a FJ62 which currently has a split case, vac actuated tcase, I have none of the perefials (unless they are compatible or can be modded). So now getting my head around the workings of this 80 series tcase. Like you, can’t find too much info and came up with a pretty silly question. I can’t use the 60’s vac system to switch into H4, so how does that work on this case? There is only the selector shaft that can be moved. It does my head in …Nice work on the rebuild. You could eat off that t-case!
Plenty of info on rebuilding the HF2AV cases. But less info on the HF1A. Did you use a factory repair manual for the rebuild instructions? Care to share? I’m about to start a rebuild on my full manual HF1A part time case.

And which sensors does this case need to operate? My current one has a 4wd sensor switch and a L4 sensor switch.
Thanks for sharing!

Hey there! So actually this isn’t my thread/post. I was asking advice from the OP @ArmyFJ.

But maybe I can still help. It looks like you have a full-manual HF1A part-time transfer case. So you will cap and abandon the vacuum operation of the transfer case from your 62. It is not needed.
You just use the lever and linkage to shift the transfer case from 2H -> 4H -> N -> 4L. It is a full manual operation setup (the main advantage in my opinion).
There are no sensors required to operate the t-case itself. But it does have a couple outputs to the truck - 4WD indicator switch and speedo.
The 4WD indicator just lights up the dash gauge to let you know when you have the truck in 4WD.

You may have to get creative for the speedo. I assume your 62 has a cable operated speedo. But your HF1A is probably electronic speedo sensor. So you may need to source a cable speedo threaded adapter from another Cruiser.

Regarding the linkages and lever, the HF1A full manual has a unique shifter gate and spring to prevent you from accidentally moving from 4H to N. You have to “Lift” and pull back on the lever to overcome the gate. However, a regular HF2A(V) shifter assembly will also operate the t-case. It just won’t have the stop feature.

For the linkage and shifter mount, you will have to fabricate a custom setup as the HF1A and HF2A(V) series of transfer cases were never mounted on a 60 series. I also assume you have an adapter kit to mount the HF1A to the 60 series transmission?
Hope that helps.
Sorry OP for the hijack.
