I don't think you're asking for my recommendation, :flipoff2: but here it is anyway.

I also have 7" of steering travel at the tie rod.

I run an 8" ram, you can easily make & install an internal spacer in the ram to limit the travel to whatever you want. Rocklogic offered to do it for me. I opted to do it myself.

As far as the distance between your axle housing and tie rod, it sounds like it's going to take a pretty large bracket to keep the ram parallel to the tie rod.
But you didn't need me to tell you that.

Not true about not needing a ram. With my rig, If I am stuck and need to turn with the front locker engaged and with 35s, it will not turn. Driving straight or slight bends is fine. I have been in places where I was at a bad angle on the wheels were turned half way. I needed to turn them straight and the only way to do it was popping out of 4 low to 2 low. WIth a ram, It should be able to turn with out loosing traction.
