Help, Poorly Running 80

I think I'll take you up on your EGR offer, and the scanner. I gave the harness behind the glove box a quick look, so I need to look at it more seroiusly tonight.

The problem started right outside of Durango, and kinda went away in Silverton, but I could feel a loss of power. In Ouray it drove fine, same with Telluride. But the drive home is where I really noticed it. The truck felt lopsided (like having a flat) to the passenger side. The truck just got progressively worse the trip home. I got to Bernalillio and that is when I had the Engine Light decoded. (It was flashing by that point)

When I read about the harness being so close to the EGR I put all my money on that being the problem. I figured I'd been running the truck in the mountains for six hours, it had to have gotten hot enough the cause the harness problems...

I will update after tonight's inspections.

(and I'll PM you B, and try to get the parts from you)

So I pieced the truck back together enough to start it. I had to turn it over three times before it started. And then the idle was really low, not rough though. I revved the RPMs and the then the idle was better. This is when I noticed that the oil pressure gauge was moving with the increased revs... high revs, high pressure. What am I dealing with now?

Also I jiggled the wire harness while idling and noticed no diiference. I jiggled the harness right outside of the firewall, and then I jiggled it closer to the EGR. Made no difference...

I guess the good news is I have an error code now!!! yay!!
Now if only I could get a ride to Beowulf's house so I could borrow his OBD-II scanner...

Sounds normal to me.

My long running performance problem was finally solved and it turned out to be burnt wires in the harness where it's against the EGR pipe. On mine, the burnt wires were those going to cylinder 4, causing a misfire, and wires going to the IAC causing an intermittent, low or highly surging idle. These were all the wires right against the pipe.
