Help from UK FJ40 owners

From the grille and the petrol door, it's certainly not a '78: grille indicates '79+ and petrol door indicates late '80+.

Post a picture of the leaf spring pin. One 10mm bolt will indicate '81+, 2 will indicate '80-.

Personally, I'd be chuffed to have a 40 as nice as this one looks to be: '78 or not.

Vin is 348118, found some tables online that looks like it was late 1981 but I have probably misread it.

Definitely 10/81 is the build date

MickW has an Indonesian fj40 that is only 429 away from yours in the build his ends in 547 eng2F584662

When importing mine, it came with all the original paperwork. Why are the documents stuck in a police station?

Worth noting that although it states 1/1/77 build date on the V5, the data suggests it was built in the second half of 77.
HJ45 serial number dates are less well documented unfortunately.
