I was wondering if anyone out there had a good source for Troopy Parts? I have a 1984 FJ45 Troopy. Right Hand Drive. The speedo cable is shot and I have checked locally and and S.O.R. for one but have had no luck. It is still fun as hell to drive but I figure I will get a ticket pretty soon. I guess when the cop says, do you know how fast you were going, I can answer honestly this time. Probably going to need a lot more stuff down the road too.

Any way, any help is appreciated.

There's a place that makes custom ones in New Mexico. Not sure of the prices though. Least you'll know it fits!

Have you tried using a regular LHD 40 series cable. Should work except it will be too long for the stock routing. Run it a little further into the engine bay before coming back and through the firewall.

I think the lhd cable is too short since the rhd has to come across the motor. Check with Cruiser Dan and see if he can get it with your VIN.

Marlin Crawler has extension cables made. Check with him to find someone who can make you a whole new cable. Can't be that hard.

We needs pics of this troopy, too. :)

Agreed on the pictures.

Yes, CDan can find you the correct parts as long as you have the VIN, the build date, and the FULL designation for your truck. For instance, my HJ-45 is an HJ-45LP-K.

Works like a charm, if a bit slow. sometimes.

Dan

Have you tried the 40 cable yet? The cable comes of the DS of the TC, but since the TC is offset to the PS the cable comes our at almost the center of the truck. It may be long enough.

These guys are on ebay Australia,

I am not affiliated with them, I have used them alot and they are reliable. The websites says they ship worldwide, free freight if over $50.00, not sure if that is outside Aus or not.
They would be helpful for anyone with an Aussie 40 series looking for some parts.

this link goes to the speedo cable

Sorry for the delayed response- I only just saw this post.

I ordered the window felts for the rear sliders from the Toyota dealer here in Adelaide. Ring 'Jessie' at CMI Toyota and you can order it from him. He is happy to ship internationally. 618 8238 5555. I pulled my windows out and had the frames sandblasted and powder-coated before I put the felts in- they look great!

The felts on the front doors can be made to work from the US-Spec felts and sweepers. All the rear corner glass and door glass rubber is the same as US Spec Cruisers.

It is much better to get what you can from the US, as taxes and Australian mark-up here make parts really expensive. When you factor in the exchange, it is not as bad, but the Aussie $ is becomming really over-valued again. Let me know if you need anything from here.

Cheers,

Josh

lots of cables could work. anything with a clip style end out of a jap truck.

i like the early to late 80's cruisers and it seem that lots of jap parts from that era are similar or easy enough to adapt.

i have a mate in cali with a 55, 350 auto and doubler split case, he found a isuzu trooper cable that clipped right on and was long enough for the added drivetrain.

mini truck, 60 series, ect. the ol' bone yard is a good place to find cheap parts, you'de be suprised.

but i'm cheap. YMMV
