Hello All!
I have a mild build 2007 GX470 with RCI skids & sliders, Toytec lift (AHC/air bag delete), skinny 33" Wildpeak AT3Ws (255-80-17), a 180AH LifePo4 aux batter (with Renogy DC/DC charger), DIY drawer with fridge slide, DIY tailgate table (using a $12 metal pegboard panel) and Bison Gear attic in the back. I also installed a cheap EKIY Android head unit from Ali with the A/C controls built in - took a ton of tinkering to get hooked up right in my '07 (with nav) so happy to help anyone who's interested or is running into issues with this or similar branks (Atoto, Joying, Eonon, etc.). I like to explore easy local trails near me (Denver, CO) with my family and two dogs. Great to meet you all.
Question: I was doing spark plugs yesterday and the plug in cylinder #6 came out with the coil pack still stuck in the boot. Looks like the aluminum threads in that cylinder are stripped so my current/urgent project is an insert to fix the threads and get the GX back on the road. I'll have to resort to driving the 2005 4Runner in the meantime! I've already run through the many threads here on mud (wealth of info in Ticking time bomb TICK TICK TICK: Spark plugs Alert Alert Alert! - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/ticking-time-bomb-tick-tick-tick-spark-plugs-alert-alert-alert.1045750/ that I wish I would've read before my issue got so bad!). Currently, it looks like I'll need to order the Time-Sert 4412E-111 kit and try to DIY the repair but I'm still looking for shops or other enthusiasts in Denver who've done this before and could help out.
Would be awesome if anyone has any ideas, guides or resources for thread repair on the 2UZ-FE and/or can recommend a shop or Toyota/Lexus enthusiast in the Denver area that may be willing to help with the repair (for a fair price of course!). I'll report back here once I find a solution. Thanks!
