Been lurking around here for about a year or more. Picked up a 2009 LC with 140,000 miles early March this year. So far it's been a gem. The back story is I got married and used to drive a 1999 Chevy K1500 that was aggressively modified. She was a beautiful beast that took me anywhere and back with no worries and had 247,600 miles under her belt. Paula was too aggressive for my wife. She drove it once and it scared the life out of her and she could not parallel park it. (we live in brooklyn NY).
So I sold Paula after months of searching for a decent LC with no rust. It's the NE so... There was hesitation when she first saw it. It's SO big I can't. She now drives it like a pro. She wants to get the 2019 for herself after she drove on some service roads and did some light rock crawling up in VT the past weekend. Push a button, flip a switch and back on the highway on the way home. Her eyes lit up and she said " WT* I can go anywhere with this thing! This f**c*** thing even has a cooler!" And it gets better. She found Flagpole Run and a nice overland trip in Canada. She is on that instagram thing looking at bumpers, fridges, roof racks and is now telling me I should have used AMSOIL gear lube instead of Mobil. ?! Mind you this women is a city girl who only lived in LA/NYC and did not know how to put gas in a car 3 months ago. So yes I am excited.
On with the boring maintenance things I have done:
oil change w/ filter
replace plastic oil filter thingy with alum thingy
new transmission filter, gaskets, purged old fluid, new fluid
plugs and wires
coils
starter (rebuild)
diff/transfer fluid
battery
replaced a bunch of old black hoses
tires
fixed ac leak for the "rear" option
recharged ac
replaced air filters
added bluetooth
bleeded brakes, new fluid < omg it needed that>
bleeded pwr str, new fluid < see above>
My next step is to rip off the front. Timing belt, water pump, radiator, pulleys and belts. If anyone has any info what else to look for while I'm in there please feel free to advise.
All in all I am above impressed. I have been a die hard GM guy. No more. After working on this thing my mind is blown. It is a brick **** house. Besides normal maintenance I do not need to modify that much. A little lift, and coil over springs, bash guards that's it. I am very surprised the LC is not a more popular vehicle in the U.S. Especially for folks living in rural areas or farms. Also surprised they never offered a dumbed down version without all the lux here in the states. If it was more affordable without all the options people would buy them.
