99% chance the switch is fine. If the 90 pickups are similar to the older ones that is. On my 89 4Runner the switch runs power through a set of resistors that limit the electricity to the blower motor..... So you've probably burned up one of the resistors. Mine are mounted in the firewall right by the blower motor, on the passenger side. You can get to them from the inside, and you will see a plug with 4 or 5 wires goign into in, and one screw holding the resistor pack in the firewall. You will want a flashlight and a phillips screwdriver to change/check them. If one's burned out, you will be able to tell real easy. The resistors are just coils of wire......

Good luck.

Funny you ask about that, I was just in mine and the first setting does not work. Two and three are just fine but one, no way. I am hoping it is a "dirty" contact, going to pull it when it gets a little warmer. I'll have to follow this tread to see if it is something else. Thanks for asking :grinpimp:

Very easy repair. All you need is a Phillips screwdriver and a flashlight. Look under the glovebox, just to the left of the blower motor. One screw holds it in. Take your VIN to the dealer and get a new one first, they'll probably have to order it.

There's a new part number on the resistor--make sure you get it. I've replaced two of these so far on my '90 truck, and '93 4Runner. Easy fix, but there are major differences between the new part and the old. Make sure the dealer doesn't try to pawn off new old stock on you--I had that happen on one of mine. The new part has much heavier resistors, and should last a lot longer.

In my experience, it's never the switch on these. Always the resistors. Unless a PO dumped in a soda, or something, that is...
