I think my low beam headlight bulb is about to go and I'm curious what you all are replacing original bulbs with? DS4 HID? I see there are also LED replacement options available. I'm looking for brightness and durability. I'm happy with the OEM light output. A little more wouldn't hurt, but I'd sacrifice crazy bright output for something that'll last longer.

Osram nightbreakers in D4S, not the blue version. That's all you'll need.

I don't even know if you can replace xenon bulbs with LEDs, but even if you could it would be a downgrade unless the projector parts are changed to accommodate the difference in bulb.

Thanks! There's a bunch of LEDs like this just based on a quick Google search: 🆕D4 D4S D4R LED Headlight Bulbs 70W 22000LM D-PRO Series HID Replacement 6500K Cool White | 2 Bulbs - https://auxbeam.com/products/d4-d4s-d4r-led-headlight-bulbs-gd002318?variant=47631407415501&country=US&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&srsltid=AfmBOoq1K7JtvVN8BQ1RslUcmDglIt_2XPqOsvsuAmWz0OhAZ3UlTPfldpc

I also found this comparison of Osram bulbs in another thread - thought it was interesting:

good thread timing as my 2014 LX low beams are feeling kind of dim. Those Osrams are plug and play?

Stay away from leds. Osram nightbreaker laser/menace are the best on the market and have been for years. Get them from a reputable dealer like lightwerkz or theretrofitsource or they'll likely be fakes. Real ones should be price locked.

For low beams, I installed Philips D4S X-tremeVision Gen2 42402XV2C1 seven years ago. Still as good as the day they were installed.

Apparently they stopped making them. I have them too and absolutely love them, and my friend needed bulbs for his LX. Couldn't find them anywhere online then confirmed via the philips website.

The issue is LEDs must be mounted to a circuit board to remove heat from the chip, and there's no way to totally match the geometry and light emission pattern of the original Xenon arc bulb that is suspended in space. Triple the light output? Cool, that's necessary because the thing cant put the light where it's supposed to go.

Sergiou's videos are a really great resource.

This is the way. No LEDs—they’re all s*** in an HID housing and everyone else on the road ends up paying the price.

Good call. I tried to remove that last post of mine after I hit 'post reply,' but I can't find a 'delete comment' option 🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s really hard to beat a good HID system. Ours isn’t GREAT (the lens type seems to be the issue) but it’s pretty darn good, and LED still can’t rival the color spectrum of HID. It’s close. But there are still “holes” in the spectrum. Probably doesn’t matter to most but it makes a difference for bad eyes especially in the rain on dark pavement.

You will lose overally intensity and have more foreground which makes your eyes adjust closer to the vehicle. Toyota spent tons and tons of money with optical engineers designing the RX350 projectors for HID use. LED don't emit light the same, stay with HID.
