I read this thread when I was trying to make my choice. I finally went with the
Ram-horn style manifolds from Jegs. They're really nice. I used the Walker, PN# 42087 crossover Here's what I ended up with... The muffler looking thing is a resonator from a Tundra that I got for free, sounds nice, even without an exhaust system. The tubes at the top are 2.5" collector adaptors also from Jegs.

Ramhorns or else you'll end up with something like this...

Sounds nice but heats the floorboards like nobodies business and I swear jumps out to hit everything you drive past

Hey, here is my two cents, I found out the all block huggers are not created equal. I bought some off brand on eBay, the curve down put the collector joint to close to the block and hit the knock sensor. I bought the Hedman block headers and have sufficient clearence now. Probably is not an issue on his '71motor.

I know this thread is a bit old but can anyone comment on how much higher the ramshorns place the collector versus the average block huggers?

After my tank started leaking in the driveway I want to go inside the frame rails, had I been out wheeling fuel dripping on a muffler probably wouldn't have ended well. Also they are very susceptible to rock damage when i do heroic things.

Planning on 2 to 1, probably 2.5" exhaust piping to keep scavenging and torque up. Running the SBC with a SM465.

THANX! I went on manafre and got the new single battery stand that mounts to the right front tire shock pin or mount thing. And went on summit and bought headmen block hugger headers. They fit great! The power steering setup made it very close but overall it was a success. Now the next step is magnaflow exhaust!

This guy is a TOTAL BS'er. I ended up trading for his LC and he never put these on! So how would he know it fit's great? Sheesh.. I did however put the headers on along with a complete new magnaflow exaust system top to bottom and it does purr like a kitten. He also had a thread going a while back about rebuilding the top mounted wiper motor, and I can tell you the wiper motor was non-functional and filled with 40 year old gunk and was clearly never removed. People were trying to send their wiper motors to him, and of course he never responded because he's full of it. He also BS'd about some other things that I won't get into. I really can't figure out what causes people to be pathological liers.. Overall though, I can say I'm happy with the block huggers thus far.
