HDMI port for rear video

Anyone successfully tried using the HDMI port for the rear video?

I'm trying to use a media player to play movies instead of using DVD discs

I did the exact setup from this -

I can't seem to even see the device menu, the device works on a normal TV with the same cable etc..
Is there specific device/player that can only be used on this HDMI port?

My kids use an NES Classic with hdmi on my 2016.

Thanks I'll try this.
Looking at the manual the LC's HDMI port only accepts 480p but this media player puts out 1080p hence it doesn't work.

I also use a lightning to HMDI adapter I bought at walmart. I can play movies and youtube over the screens.

trying to fix this I thought it would work out of the box!, getting my tech guys to change device output to 480p, will update here if I get it to work
