There are a ton of gas sucking domestic 80's for sale cheap, as John had mentioned in some previous posts.

Anyone know anyone who has done a conversion to diesel and what it might end up costing? I have zero interest in doing this myself, so it would be farmed out, purchase engine with whatever is required etc etc. and most importantly, time frames!

If you were doing it yourself, I'll bet you could do it for under 15K. I'll bet a shop would want 2-3K. Just guessing, a good 1HD-T will probably run upwards of 7K. I think it would be better to buy the entire drive line with harness to make it easier.

front halves can go for about 8-10k. there was a 1HDT motor/tranny combo on craigslist a while back going for 7500. i think G&S did a conversion did they not? definitely want to contact them. all in all...i'd say it'll be at least 17-20K once its all said and done...depending on the inital price of the vehicle getting converted.

if youre looking for the cheaper domestic 80's...pre 93 wont have FF & rear discs or optional lockers. something to think about if those are important to you...
