Jesus Harry.. no wonder you had a misfire and through a code. That's a ton of mud in your engine bay. How fast did you hit the mud pit?

On another note... i like how the FJCruiser guy had his strap out before he entered in the trap. That was smart thinking you usually dont see.

Had CEL 26 after the mud pit and a heavy misfire. After cleaning the distributor, everything worked like a charm.

What a difference one cylinder makes.

Just goes to show ya, a snork's only good til the diz gets wet!

Fun pics, looks like it was a good day up there. I'm always leery about driving through that pit, afraid that some goofball threw some big rocks in there and I'll find them with my axle!

Dan.

First time in, I went into the pit very slow, just to make sure it was too deep and slushy. Second time I was more confident and jumped in much quicker.

I couldnt wait to get home to wash my engine bay, trust me. Next mod is to seal the dist and add a breather on it, for sure. 5 cylinders up the Grapevine with 35s was not fun.

We thought it was a smart idea to put the strap on before he went in. No one wanted to see him in his undies.

Dude you would be surprised how much junk was in that put. By bud saw a piece of someones bumper when I was in the pit. I found a piece of someones tailight stuck in my front bumper.

Nice Harry, VERY nice!!! Take a beautiful white truck and get it truely dirty!!! Gotta love it!

I wish. Got scared my stock 96 was gonna hit the ceiling today at the mall. Cant imagine the white one with the INTI on it. Atleast now we know its not a mall cruiser.

Ouch. That is seriously muddy.

BTW guys, the name of this website is "I hate mud".

;)

last time I took my truck through something like that, I had to yank out the trans because the mud chewed up the front main seal. It started leaking about 50 miles after the mudpit and I ended up limping home, pouring fluid in every few miles.

My undercarriage got a thorough lube job by the time I got home (from Bridgeport to LA, about 20 quarts).

After that little episode, I stay the hell away from mud. I truly "Hate mud".
Not good for landcruisers.

And then there was the time I was on the Miller Jeep trail, and there is a little side trail that goes off the left a bit. There was a similar mud pit and one of our group decided to drive through it. He was in a 4runner. Well, 5 minutes down the trail, his alternator light came on, and we spent the next three hours taking it apart and clearing it of mud.

Did I mention I hate mud???

see you dirty 80 at shell gas station and fjC:steer:

Wow that was a deep mud hole. I noticed it was over your door jams and tailgate. Did you get any water inside the cab?
No water in the cab, but all over the door jams. Pain to clean up because I cant use a garden hose, water will get into the cab. Thats the price I have to pay for playing in the mud.

Its obvious the more experience wheelers on this board dont like the mud, now I know why.

You’ve just learned the same lesson we all have. Everyone wheels in heavy mud once. After that they realize the clean up is not worth the few minutes of fun, : ).

nice to meet you:)
We were finishing up one of the trails at Gorman, and we exited the trail half way to take the 5 north. As soon as I saw the freeway i spoted your car.

I was like hell ya, lifted 80 with an ARB. I wanted to see the car close up, little did I know you were gasing up at the station we stopped at.

Nice to meet you.

Gorman Mud.... BEWARE!!!!!!

FYI: Gorman Mud is filled with a high CLAY content. I found out the hard way back when I had a Montero Sport and killed the rad. Couldn't figure out why I kept overheating until I pulled the rad and found it packed with hard clay, could not get it out, had to buy a new rad. All that time I was making pottery in my rad!!!
