Gorman Mud.... BEWARE!!!!!!

FYI: Gorman Mud is filled with a high CLAY content. I found out the hard way back when I had a Montero Sport and killed the rad. Couldn't figure out why I kept overheating until I pulled the rad and found it packed with hard clay, could not get it out, had to buy a new rad. All that time I was making pottery in my rad!!!

Ammo,

Your scaring me. On our way up to Big Bear, the cars temp needle was up there, little below the red line during the 20 mile climb.

I had 4 people in the car, and the back was loaded to the max. As soon as I turned the heater on, the temp came back down.

I am not sure if this is normal, due to weight, and my 35s, or maybe a clogged or dirty rad. How can I find out ?

Yuppers dude,

Count that Rad DEAD. You made pottery on the way home, best of luck getting that out of the fins. I had the same thing happen in the Montero, never went near that mud again in the 80. Your best bet is to try to see the front side of the rad and see if the fins are open or clogged. If they are clogged, do yourself a favor and just buy a new rad.

Ouch, lesson learned.
