finally picked one of these up on sale for 299! great value, IMO.

was test fitting everything with my fzj80 ARB bullbar and noticed the holes don't line up for the supplied fairlead.

1. drill new holes in the fairlead to match arb holes?
2. i am guessing i need to remove the C clips so i can get the vertical rollers out? what size bolts do i use for the vertical roller mount points?

this seems like a pretty generic setup, so i'd like to know how everyone else is doing it!

thanks

Not a 80 series bull bar but on my FJ62 bull bar I drilled new holes in the fairlead bracket to fit the ARB. Removed the C clip on the pin for the rollers and replaced with bolts that also went thru the bull bar. Got the bolts long enough so the threads won't cut thru the plastic bushing on the ends of the roller while in operation.

thanks for the reply.

+1 vote for the Harbor Freight 8000lb winch. Mine was purchased in 2010 and I have used it on my Jeep since then. I am fabbing a front receiver for the Hundy, I plan to use the winch on both trucks. Some of the videos on Youtube of Harbor Freight winches were made by me and my buddies. I run a cover on the winch, I think it makes a huge difference in preserving it. I have been using it at least once a year, I think it is good to exercise them. Here is a pic of my buddy's Jeep hanging off of it, single line pull.

The cable that comes with the winch is big, thick, stiff, and heavy. I hated working with it. I replaced it with a smaller diameter cable that had the same rating as the original cable. Since then I've used my HF winch a lot this summer, pulling logs, wrecked vehicles, winching other stuck vehicles with no problems.

Just bought a Badlands 12000 at HF Sidewalk Days. Regularly $499.00 for $299.00 for the next three days. They would not apply the % off coupon in addition. Also noteworthy, they have changed warranty. 30 days back to store, after that you're on your own unless you purchase the extended warranty. That, by the way, is no longer in store replacement, but local repair only. Clerk told me if they cannot fix within 30 days due to parts availability, then replacement in store. I have thirty days to retro purchase the warranty. I'm not sure I will under the new policy.

Crazy low price. Unit is well packed, hardware is 8.8. I hope to mount to MetalTech front bumper this weekend. One thing bummed about is bolt pattern is 4.5 by 10. I thought 4 by 10 was standard. It drives me nuts to have to drill into the powdercoat!

Wife had the 80 all day and just got a chance to measure. Hole pattern in MT bumper is 4.5 by 10. I haven't been this happy to be wrong in a long time!

I thought the HF pattern was the standard Warn pattern?

I replaced my warn 8k with the hf 12k winch and it bolted right up in my slee shortbus bumper no problem.

Sorry I wasn't clear. MetalTech=4 1/2 by 10=HF=Warn!

What is the wire gauge for the HF 12K? I want to mount one to a receiver mount and be able to switch it front to back.
Also can anyone recommend a polarized quick connect So I can disconnect and store under cover.

I have talked to people about a front rear receiver mount and was told it might not be a good idea as the receiver mount might not hold up to side loads. I asked about how a double receiver would work and was told that would be better.

Thanks for the heads up. I am not too worried about the mount. I can always replace it. Will be worth it to get out of a jam. I don't expect any steep offset pulls.
