Request for HAMOM March 4th at my home in Cary. I'll provide food and beverages from start to finish, will have my smoker and grill hot and full, garage fridge filled with cold drinks. Send me a PM for address if you don't have it.

HAMOM goal - perform axle & transfer case swap on my '97 FZJ80.

I have a set of OEM e-lockers to swap out the non-locking axles that came on my 80. The swapped axles are re-geared with 4.88's, front has Longfields and rebuilt Aisin hubs and a set of Budbuilt drag link & tie-rods in hand, also has Landtank brackets installed. Rear is cleaned up and ready to rebuild, will have it done before the date. Axles have rebuilt calipers and new rotors, I have a Phoenix "reverse" brake bleeder to make that process easier, I hope.

Transfer case is rebuilt with Marlin gear and spool installed, ready to swap in.

I also have a set of bushing for all control/radius arms, new u-joints as well. Plan to adjust rear pinion angle by sleeving OEM LCA's during the process. Will be using current OME J lift, it drives well in the current setup with the non-locking axles.

I have full garage with jackstands, jacks and air to the driveway, only thing I don't have now is a EZ-up (lost that at Overland Expo this past fall) in case we have some weather. I'll have everything sprayed with PB, hoping since its only been 6-7 years since we installed the J lift and its never been in the sand/salt, things won't be too seized up.

Please post up if you can be in to help out, thanks in advance for the help and being part of the ONSC family...

I'd like to come up and drink beer ;) Hopefully work does not get in the way.

I'll be there

I'll be there, Jerry. Let me know if I can stop by and assist with any prep work beforehand.

Wow, thanks everyone. This is awesome, a long time coming getting these axles under my 80.

Will do Joe, my plan is to take day off Friday. I'm hoping to get it at least power washed and crack as many bolts as I can. I'm hoping to get a good coat of Raptor sprayed on before the new stuff gets bolted back on.

I replaced my rear drive shaft U-joints on Saturday. It's not too difficult with the right tools. I used Matsuba U-joints from Cruiser outfitters since they were slighter cheaper than OEM but built the same.

If anyone is going down to help I have a 10' x 10' EZ-Up Eclipse II that can be loaned in case of sprinkles.

I can bring my EZ-Up Escort, 12' x 14'. I won't be able to stay for the full day so someone will need to pack it back up and hold onto it for me.

Gonna try to make it for at least part of the day. I can bring my EZ-up by. Actually, I can bring it by before then if that helps, just in case I'm not able to make it. At least you'd have the EZ-up.

Excellent, we will find an easy solution as we get closer. I could always pick it up from Allen at work or something like that. Hoping weather doesn't become an issue, just like to have an insurance plan just in case.

I just about drive by your house on the way home. I work off 55 in RTP and live off 55 near Holly Springs.

Just let me know bud. I can throw it in the back of the truck any day. Whatever's easiest.

I will be there if I am still in town. I'm not sure how much knowledge I will provide but I have some hands that are good at turning wrenches and drinking beer.

I grew up in Chapel Hill but I recently moved to Dallas after graduating last spring. I'm back interviewing for jobs in the DC area. Looking forward to meeting you as well!

Matt - It just occurred to me that, if you want to wait and do your knuckles during this HAMOM, I'd bet we could get them done also. Some of these guys can do a pair in their sleep and having their expertise around would give you a chance to learn from some experts.

I do have to keep things a bit stealth due to my HOA restrictions but I'm sure we can manage it easily. Let me know what you think...
