Anyone have a part number for an 03 GX470 VSC over ride button? I assume the blank next to 2nd start is for this. Would like to have the option if it works.

Anyone?

I am going to do some research, same tranny as the V8 runners so the button should work. Going to visit my parts guy at a Toyota dealer and see if I can get one to work.

Grounding one green and white wire on the ECU in the PS kick panel seems easy enough. Will toy with it next week.

Been raining here so I hate working on electrical...from what I see it is a VERY simple mod. The choice of switch and location is actually the biggest pain because I want it to look stock.

So I poked around under the dash...anyone have an idea what the blanks on the DS are for? This truck does not have the plug or the button for the VSC that the 08 has (since it is an 03) but I was curious about the other blanks.

I found one unused and capped blue plug behind the DS controls (behind the mirror controls). It is a blue wide connector that is electrical taped to the harness and tucked up out of the way.

Thoughts?

I am going to mess with that wire to switch off VSC once I get a chance to get in there in dry weather and once I figure out a nice solution for the switch.

Hey Dan. There is a traction control switch listed for the 4Runner that goes in one of those knockout spots. You could rig that up and look stock. Part # 84988-35010. Send me a msg or email if you want to price it.

BTW there are quite a few other switches that would probably fit those knockouts. Toyota usually makes them all the same size for just that reason. I listed the one above because it seems like the most logical for the use you are wanting.

I am interested, most interested if the harness has the plugs!

Can you list them or post a pic of the layout?

Doesn't the VSC turn off when you lock the center or are you talking about disabling the ATRAC?

It does, but I want to run higher speeds in 4H without losing power if I hit a patch (power through gravel, etc). It is just the 1 time in 200 I may need it, but hey, I NEED IT :)

Here's a snap from the parts catalog. The numbers above the parts correspond to the locations on the dash image. If you're interested, I can order one and post some pics of what it actually looks like.

If you get a minute to post the switch description it would help. I can't make out some of them.

yeah, that is worth a shot...I think I saw a plug for it taped up behind there.

Any schematics showing the harness plug end?

J14/J15 junction connector looks a lot like the connector I see up under my dash taped to the harness behind the bracing. Will see if I can get to it, but I have big ham hands so it is a hard one to reach.

The J14-J15 is going to be the junction block connector. The one you're looking for is a small 2 wire connector. Labeled T7 on the wiring diagram. If it's there it would be wrapped in tape onto the harness.

Will dig in there once I get a window at work...almost lunch time. I know there is a large blue connector on the GX taped to the harness back there, need to look for more.
