Replacing a no name alternator with a Denso 210-1056
The power wire stud is a different size, smaller than the one I'm taking off so the nut doesn't fit. The alternator didn't come with a new nut.

Does anyone know the stud size, and can I just use any nut to hold the power wire on? Should it be a flange nut?

This is probably an obvious question but I'd rather ask and someone in the future won't have to.

Most every bolt on a GX is a M6x1.00 (usually a 10 mm head), M8x1.25 (usually 12 mm head, but these are occasionally replaced with generic M8x1.25 bolts/nuts with a 13 mm head) or M10x1.25 (usually a 14 mm head, but if non OEM they will often have a 15 mm head). The alternator stud is probably the M8 but you should be able to easily tell based on the head size. I'd personally replace it with a stainless steel nut, lock washer, and flat washer, which you can pick up at any hardware store.

Appreciate the information. The old nut was a m8x1.25, this stud is smaller so I'm guessing it's a M6x1.00.
Stainless steel felt safe, but I really appreciate the confirmation. I'll see what I got in the parts bin that will fit.
