I'm lucky my wife still loves her Taco, mostly because she's always hauling her surfboard/paddleboard/bodyboard, etc. and doesn't worry about sand and salt water.
Otherwise, I don't think the GX would be mine!

The GX mention at 21:15...

the alternative to a 4R or a FJ?

I was so glad to get away from the FJC and 5th Gen world because of their overwhelming popularity and consequently I'd see one on every street corner. Now I am starting to see that trend happen with the GX, both the 470 and the 460 are blowing up right now. I guess in a few years when I've done just about everything that you can to mine and grow tired of it I can sell mine and hopefully do well with it haha.

My wife drove a 5th 4Runner and a GX460. She called the 4Runner "fine" and fell in love with the GX immediately. For reference, she's been driving our 100-series for about 125k miles. As great as the 4Runner might be, it does NOT feel like a LC, but the GX certainly does...... my2cents

After having a couple of 100 series and my wife's current Taco, all my wife and I can say is: "GX... All the way baby!!!"
The 100 series are getting a little long in tooth. We sold my wife's LC with 285k miles and mine with 255k miles. Both ran great, but the leather and paint was all worn out. And the 200 series is just too dog-gone big for many trails, albeit, you'd be hard pressed to be in anything more comfortable, except maybe a Land Rover, but with a Land Rover, who knows if you'll make it off the trail or back home??

I still love the 200 series and I'll miss ours when it's gone, but it's crazy how on paper it isn't much bigger than the 150 series but in real life it feels a lot larger. As much as I want to trade our LX570 for a 2016+ Land Cruiser and build it out, it just doesn't make sense with the GX already half way there and it's damn near the perfect size off-road.

Yep, I'd love a 200 series for long road trips or hauling an adventure trailer when we're just doing base camping for a week or so and not overlanding.
