I didn't double check so let me know if wrong

BTU/hr values:

[Cooling]
  • Front Cooling: 21,325 BTU/hr
  • Rear Cooling: 12,283 BTU/hr
  • Combined Cooling (Front + Rear): 33,608 BTU/hr

[Heating]
  • Front Heating: 19,619 BTU/hr
  • Rear Heating: 8,530 BTU/hr
  • Combined Heating (Front + Rear): 28,149 BTU/hr

Thanks @Acrad.

does the rear hvac unit have a way to control intake air quality (recirculated vs outside intake vs filtered)? Or is the rear just always pulling in outside air? I can always click the auto button when the front is on, but i dont remember if the intake is controllable on the rear.

I've not seen outside air intakes on the rear so assume always internal recirc... that would be best bang for the buck on cooling/heating performance

Do boxes go bad? My bigger fear are the hard lines that most minivans and suburbans tend to rot out to being exposed to road wash.

These really don't go bad in my memory..that being said I have a cheap eBay "offer acepted" that was accepted "by seller" for the GX 460 museum for some restoration decades in the future. :)

I wouldn't worry about it as long as you practice good winter hygiene, regular car washes in the winter with under body spray.

The Lexus/Toyota hoses are legit.

undercarriage wash not frequently.
Undercoated with FF, touching up with surface shield.

Woolwax can be a good one to throw into the mix as it is just thicker lanolin than fluid film. Good for the parts that need something thicker.

Just escaped central Iowa. They use salt like it's going out of style. Absolutely eats everything, eventually.

UPDATE: Pump and belt replaced at the dealer, I'm $1200 lighter but delighted to be done with the RX loaner.

Well, it’s my turn for a water pump. 2014, 108k miles. Started as a random cold-start squeal, now it's full-blown AIDS. It's at the dealer now—will report back with the damage.

Going to see if my fix for the 4runner roof rack worked or if I will be taking it to a Professional.

I have the same squeal and as well as the Hardy Boys "Mystery of the Disappearing Coolant" going on.

Watching like a hawk while I mourn having to sell stock to cover this repair as well as snow tires.

I self medicated and navigated Alex up to Horsetooth Resevoir.

Hit 90,000 miles over the weekend driving to Maine and back for Thanksgiving. In preparation for the upcoming large maintenance items like the radiator, alternator, etc that come up around 100k I've bought myself some new wheels. Financial advisors love this one trick.

Warming up the credit card for some heavy lifting!

I say there is an argument to pre-order the all aluminum radiator so you aren't like me, with an O'Reilly special.
