David did you ever mount it on the rear hatch area? Pic?
-Does the shade/awning seem durable?,will it last?

I don't have a pic but I actually prefer to mount it over the rear hatch. We were camping while it was raining. I did all the cooking under the awning (while the family stayed in the tent) and stayed pretty dry. Also works well to protect from the sun while you hang out on the tailgate. I'll look for a pic but don't think I have one.

The durabilty is a concern it is a lightweight material. I'm extra careful not to snag it on anything as it seems it would rip much easier than the heavy duty awnings from Hanibal...etc.

Thanks for the link,I was about to pull the triger on the shade boy (300.00$)
I figured for the price I should check out the sierra trading post stuff.
+ I needed some new chairs.

This stuff is exactally what you would expect for $60.00.
Its not something for crazy rain or wind but for a little shade or moisture protection, ok.
Im thinking about alternate attachment plans IE welding recepticals on the swing outs for the poles so that I wont have to use the gye ropes, well see.

That's looking good.
Up to now I've only used tarps from truck to truck or truck to tree. It works but not as nice as what you have.
I'm thinking of getting something else besides a tarp. Tarps work great if there's no wind. I've seen some awnings that are made of a cloth like material that allows air to flow through.

My setup has kept us away from the sun and the rain many times.
