I found an 1990 FJ62 for 1000usd. It is pretty nasty with cancer and all. But I didnt buy it to drive. I needed parts from a 60 series (FJ62 front axle, Powersteering system, 60 series tcase, etc.). This just happened to work out for us. I was also thinking about the 2FE conversion and being I have all the parts now I might just go for it.

Sound like a good deal!! I'm actually thinking about doing something similar once I get back to the mainland.

Mini, great to see you going ahead with the pig build :bounce:

Lou

thanks... I am feeling much better now as well. I started some new meds that are working. And a few of the other meds they had me on where not interacting very well and making me ill.

Anyway I have this FJ62 now. What I am thinking of doing is convert over to the 3FE for now with the manual 4speed transmission and tcase. Then break the 2F down to the bare block and get it checked and honed for new rings. Do a mild rebuild on a short block. Getting it ready for the 2FE conversion.
I want to rebuild the FJ62's transfercase and install the 60 series power steering system. My wife has been waiting for this modification for a long time now. I am going to open up and go thru the 62's front axle prior to installing it.

I almost though bout putting this big arsed elephant mirriors on my pig... hmmm? Any thoughts?

Sooner or later I am going to change the engine management system to a Megasquirt setup. I have some friends that have converted to this system and they love it.

I resally would like to top everything off with a FF rear axle.

Howdy! Sounds like you, and your project,l are making good progress. You know that the spring perches (and overall width) on the FJ62 axles are about 3" wider than your Piggy? Could always just pull the diff and use it in the 55, as it is probably very low miles. Have you thought about using an H55f to go with that split case? Overdrive would be really nice with 4:11's and moderate tire size. John

hang in there - you will definitely have some days that you don't feel quite up to snuff, but just keep on a truckin...

where did you pick up the 62 from?

Tonight is turning into one of those days fast... the meds are really messing with my intestines. It feels like they are being pulled from my body. Sometimes I feel like I am a nuclear holocaust survivor. If anyone has ever studied the effects of the radiation on the victims you will get the idea. I really cant take all this nausea.

inkplot: I have already manufactured the hangers for the wider 60 series axles. I did that before I became ill. And the pig is helping with my recovery. I glad I listened to my wife and everyone here on the pig forums. Also I wouldnt mind getting and H55F but my wife wants to me to go with a automatic so it is either a 200R4 or a 700R4.

I bought it from a fellow down in Denver for 900 bucks. I was actually paying 1K but then some things happened and he went to 900usd after I asked if he would go down on the price. the parts alone I need are worth what I paid. It starts, drives, stops, everything pretty much works. Its just a cancer queen.
