We need to decide on next years dates so people can make plans and reservations.

Curious if anyone has thought about making it run for a shorter period? Like thurs-sat/Sun? I'm just throwing that out there cause it is unlikely I will ever be able to make it for the full week but generally can roll in late wed/ early Thursday and stay thru sat night/ sun morning?

As far as the actual dates I will have to consult the boss.

We run it for 6 days for those that travel long distances to get here and want to make it a worth while trip. The way we rent the event area and everyone only pays trail fees for the days they ride the cost Would be about the same.

I vote Sunday May 8 or the 15th to start the event on. Back in the day it was always later in the month of May. With the event ending on Mother's Day it cuts everyone's trip a day short. Just my .02¢

Certainly depends on the bride with regard to mother's day. Mine enjoys an empty house free of the kids and me. Therefore, she is pushing us out the door. She would vote for alignment with mother's day.

With regard to a week long event, I have attended CMCC several times (plus RoundUp, Fall Crawl & Jamberee which are partial week events too). CMCC used to be Thursday thru Saturday, then they lengthened it to Wednesday thru Saturday. This has always disappointed me because the trip is effectively a day on each end. Three or four days of wheeling with friends has always struck me as disappointing exchange for two days on the highway. I find longer events, like GSMTR, more worth while to me. Additionally, a longer event does provide more flexibility for attendance. Some may be able to attend a few days and with more days comes increased flexibility to each person's needs and schedule.

had an absolute blast the early part of the week last year, especially Tuesday night sitting around the campfire eating Crab legs. mmmmh!

Anyone heard from Spanky, tried emailing him a few times but no response. He's a riot on the trails and hoping he makes it down again this year.

Spanky stopped by a couple weeks ago, said he is coming but has not registered yet.

Posting comments is OK but please vote in poll at top of thread

Roger, good idea on taking a poll. I voted for the May 9-14 option. Thanks.

I guess you can't vote on the mobile app . I'll look at site when I get a chance.

I'm leaning towards the third week to get farther away from the other event that is also claiming to be the best in Southeast.
If you know of any conflicts with this week let me know.

i know the polling is over but if it's still up in the air i vote May16-21. i'll probably stay at my mothers cabin in gatlinburg nearby for that week and join the group for a few days!

The dates for the 25th annual GSMTR are May 16-21,2016.
The event page will go up in early Jan. when registration opens. We are still working on the details, event will include a band on Friday night and the raffle and catered meal on Saturday night.
