group 24 or 27 for my DD

My Interstate is about on its last limb. I want to buy a new battery this weekend but i"m not sure if I should go with the 24 or 27. Both sizes show up for my 99. Lastly will both sizes use the stock hold down?

When I replaced the battery on my 4Runner, the dealer had the 24F and 27F for the same price. I got the 27F

27F is the OE size and larger than the 24.

The 27F is larger and typically has more reserve capacity/cold cranking amps than the 24. Picked mine up at BateriesPlus about 6 months ago; uses the stock hold down and I have been happy.

I figured so, But some 24's have a higher cca but not as long of a reserve. is the cca not as important as the reserve?

The CCA on the 27F is 840 vs 725 on the 24F at BateriesPlus. Either is plenty for the 100. I would generally weight RC more important than CCA, especially if you like to run electronic devices when the vehicle isn't running.

5 year warranty. 3 year replacement and 2 year Pro rated.

None of my local walmarts have a 27f. Some have regular 27, but not the reverse pole F. Batteries Plus was the only local place that stocked a 27f. Plus, it was on sale plus a $10 mail-in rebate that made it the same price as a Wally 24f.

Engineers could have saved Toyota a couple bucks per unit by using the 24f since it was sufficent but they went with a 27f because it was better. Good enough for me.
