Hi everyone, Thomas here from Italy.
I’ve been reading the forum for a long time and finally decided to jump in.
My team and I are huge 4x4 enthusiasts and we run a small shop focused on custom engine swaps.
We just finished an interesting project I thought you guys might appreciate: we pulled the tired 2L-T from a Toyota LJ70 and dropped in an Italian Alfa Romeo 2.4 JTD 10v turbo diesel.

We CNC-machined our own adapter plates and engine mounts to make it a clean, bolt-on job.
The result is amazing: massive torque right from the bottom, super reliable, and it sounds pretty mean in the woods.

Happy to be here and ready to talk tech with fellow Land Cruiser nuts!

Welcome to Mud
Motor looks right at home in there !

Thanks for the warm welcome! 🍻

Honestly, we were surprised ourselves by how well it fits, especially considering it's the 2.4 JTD 10v (the 5-cylinder block). It's a bit longer, but with the custom mounts we designed, it sits perfectly without having to cut the hood or mess with the chassis. It almost looks factory!

By the way, since I couldn't upload the video directly in the first post, here is a short clip of a test climb. You have to hear how this 5-cylinder turbo sounds in the woods! 🔊
