For Sale Greenville, SC, 1971 FJ40 fuel expansion tank and panel, $25

Not sure exactly what to call this tank located under the rear passengers side behind the rear wheel. The fuel tank vents to this tank and then it appears to connect to the VSC in the engine compartment. The panel that goes under it is included.
It has a small dent in the rear comer where the body panel was hit.
$50 plus the ride

Anybody know anything about this part? Any utility at all?
Should I just throw it out?

Yeah the tank looks like it was used In soccer️ practice. The guard had value.
