So over the years I've thought of having a back up in the truck/trailer. I have an ATV, monsterous thing.
800 Can Am 27" tires, yada, yada... I am currently selling this thing. I have my eye on Rokon 2 wd bike.
Kind of expensive, but cheaper than an ATV. Then I saw this ad for a made in Canada electric bike.
So thought I'd pass it along as conversation piece. It would be quiet and they make a Beast for off road use. Not ridiculously expensive but still a lot. Yet cheaper than a high end mountain bike. Easier to pedal!!

This is the Rokon. I have read all about them. I'd really like to try one out one day. They float!
They carry spare fuel in the wheels. Very fuel efficient. I'm not too keen on electric yet as there is
always that real quite ride....like when the power runs out.

Heh... I'm over in china right now and those electric bikes are everywhere... not as beefy as that but they're so cheap! You can buy one for less than 200 euros.

Also rode them around Myanmar last year. They can do about 60kph and they normally last a full day (dawn - dusk) on the battery... you can get spare batteries you just drop in and swap the plug in about 30 sec...

I guess if you are only one person then you could go a full day on a battery, if two people need to swap by the end of the day...

That's a lot more duration than I would have thought. Of course, its Canada so bring money - nothing cheap here. Ironically I bought my ATV for purpose of
just retrieving moose so I can hunt on foot and go further. The real pisser was the stupid look I got
from everywhere I asked ' How can I make it quieter? '. For ten bucks I can be heard from 5 miles away.
But no amount of money can make it quieter.

Those electric bikes have a lot of options... the bigger issue is shipping since some of them have s*** batteries... (and the shippers know it so they lump all of them together).

If you want a cheap one I could probably arrange to get one shipped over from china. I have no idea how the different qualities are or anything though. Of course it'd only be legal for off road use...

The basic 1 wheel drive ones are just fine on logging roads and such... of course you can't really ford streams or do any offroading in sand and such... but they're pretty fun for ripping around. I guess they're basically the equivalent of an old Italian moped or something in terms of offroad-ability...

Still in the thinking stage. Certainly not doing anything until the quad is gone. Cheap and electric don't work
for something I might have far away from home. Thanks for the offer. I'm leaning towards the Rokon,
since it's been around a long time.

Not serious. Have you seen one? Are they a credible vehicle? I suspect it has no safety devices as required in
Canada. As in airbags. Which from what I understand one of the reasons the Defender was discontinued,

That's rough. They use road salt there too? I just liked that little truck, that's either a really small truck or
a really big chinaman.

Compared to where my 40 started it doesn't look that bad.

For backup, I have a Chinese pit bike: my kids trash it around all day, so I have spent a lot of time getting it rolling but parts are cheap.
it stopped charging the battery and the alternator is 2.80 dollar, free shipping

I can lift and walk with it and fits in HJ, it can easily move me at pretty fast speeds, but it is for the kids, just kids :D
My son wants me to make a bracket so it fits outside on the rear bumper, looking for parts/idea.

That is cool. I had a 1977 Honda 125 Trail. It was amazing, about 80 mpg. I just got rid of
it. Small dirt bikes, especially non brand bikes are a really good deal too.
I just found this, its an ebike but the stupid thing is starting at $7000 which doesn't pass
the giggle test.
Two-wheel drive electric utility bike doubles as a remote power supply

a guy in ladysmith was building some that were pretty cool.

insane money. could buy a hideously overpriced landcruiser for less.

Can't find the video section right now, but they aren't slow.

Those are really cool. Too bad they are so pricey.
