Snorkel will lower intake air temps by 30-50 deg. When moving above 20mph or so, the air temp only runs about 10 deg above ambient.

not for me... consistently much higher than that. i will get some hard numbers for the group over the weekend.

your screwed
This mod makes me Jealous of the FZJ80's... I'm going back tot he 60's forum where I feel like our rigs are supreme.

With the stock filter I get about 20 degrees consistently over outside air temp once the truck is moving.

Did anyone have to force it to connect?? I just installed mine and it says Connecting... and then turns off. Anyone have this problem?

The new blue fan clutch was adjusted with Land tanks mod and filled with 7k oil.
Before doing that the numbers were about 5 degrees warmer.
Radiator, Thermostat, and water pump are new toyota with about 10k miles on them. For me the old 175k original fan clutch cooled better than the new blue one before it was modified.

Using 50/50 prestone/distilled.

Yes from the scan gauge

It has hit 195 while climbing but by adjust gear and driving speed I can get it to go to 190.

Before new parts I was hitting 215 often and pretty easily. With a gauge you can modify how you are driving to keep it cooler.

CPG, I was wondering what you set the timing of your fan clutch to? 90 degrees farenheit, 95 degrees or 100? Also what oil was used? IIRC Toyota doesn't offer 7K? Was that the OFNA oil or a mix of say Toyota's 10K with their 6K? Thanks.

Just got one, but I'm wondering what gauges to display.

1. Water Temp...this is probably the most valuable one to make sure you are not overheating.
2. Transmission fluid...not available, so I got the air intake here. Not sure why this is important.
3. MPG...this is a good one too to monitor gas mileage.
4. ?

Don't know which other one to monitor and why...

Thanks for any help

Since I also got 285 revos. then my 4th gauge is going to be MPH using a % correction. I just need to figure out what % to use for the speedo correction...

I used Mugen super silicon from a hobby store 7k. Timing was set between 90 and 95 degrees.

I also use mph as my 4th due to 315's corrected

Thanks for the links on the tires. Unfortunately, I was only able to enter whole number into the ScanGaugeII as percentages, so it's either 5% or 6% to correct the speedo.

Also, I found other sites that measure the Michelin LXTs at 31.15" (your link says 31.3) and the Bridgestone Revos at 33", so that's a 5.6% difference 100*(1-(33.15/33.00))

Again, since I can't figure out how to enter fractions into ScanGauge, it's either a 5% or a 6% correction. I went for the 6% just to be on the slower side.

Also, kudos to FirstToy (post #13 on page 1 https://forum.ih8mud.com/2475139-post13.html ) for his excellent pictures which were "instrumental" in my installation...

Moreover, I paid $139.95 at Amazon with no tax and free shipping. My friend invited me to pay using this thing called BillMeLater and they gave me $20 for using the service for the first time and registering. The bill is supposed to be in the mail, so I still haven't paid for the unit and I got it installed already.

Hey, just found a very cool looking mount for these. I haven't bought one yet though...
Anyone have this type???

That looks terrific! Still I think that I'd rather put mine on my steering column cover to conceal the "D" light that is out on my dashboard! :D  :D

If you do get this thing though, please post how well it works. Thanks.

would be a good mount for a 2M radio display.

How are you going to get the wires up to the rear view mirror?

The best place, imho, to place the ScanGaugeII is on the steering column. It's very easy to route the wire to that area and the display ends in a very good location for viewing while driving.

The ScanGaugeII is one of the best mods for an ODB2 vehicle. It makes your 12 year-old 80 keep up with the times.

i moved the sg off the steering colum because at night I noticed a reflection on the windshield in front of me- it was distracting. I have it above my 2m radio and is the ideal location for me. easy to see but out of the way. The SG wire is long enough to reach.
