Good android apps for file encryption?

I do like to take backup material with me when travelling, but I always keep my serious files encrypted in case the gizmo gets stolen.

I am contemplating getting a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 as a tablet. Seems much nicer and better for me than our iPads. But are there good serious (as in financial institution level of security) encryption Android apps that would enable me to protect my files? If so, being compatible with AxCrypt standard format would be a plus, if you know.
